Sinusitis

Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinus cavities, often caused by viral, bacterial, or fungal infections, or allergies. Symptoms include facial pain or pressure, nasal congestion, runny nose, and headache. Sinusitis can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) and may require treatment with antibiotics, decongestants, or nasal sprays.

Types Of Sinusitis

Acute Sinusitis

Lasts for less than four weeks and is usually caused by a bacterial infection

Subacute Sinusitis

Persists for four to twelve weeks, often following acute sinusitis.

Chronic Sinusitis

Lasts for twelve weeks or longer, and may be due to bacterial, fungal, or non-infectious causes.

Recurrent Sinusitis

Occurs multiple times within a year, with symptoms returning after periods of improvement.

Symptoms of Sinusitis

Joint pain

rthritis often causes discomfort, tenderness, and pain in affected joints

Joint stiffness

People with arthritis may experience stiffness, especially after periods of inactivity or upon waking up in the morning.

Swelling

Inflammation of the joints can lead to swelling, making them appear larger or feel warmer to the touch.

Decreased mobility

Arthritis can limit the ability to move joints fully, causing difficulty in performing everyday tasks like walking, bending, or gripping objects.

Causes of Sinusitis

Joint injuries

Previous joint injuries or trauma can increase the likelihood of developing arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis.

Genetics

Certain genetic factors may predispose individuals to develop various types of arthritis.

Age

The risk of developing arthritis increases with age as wear and tear on joints over time can lead to osteoarthritis

Autoimmune Disorder

Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy joint tissues, leading to inflammation and joint damage.
